Press Release: Pat Anderson Formally Launches Her Campaign for Governor with a Press Conference Rally at the State Capitol

365 Days from Election Day 2010,
Anderson introduces “365 Days, 365 Ways to a Better Minnesota”

St. Paul – Stressing her executive experience in the public and private sectors, former State Auditor and entrepreneur Pat Anderson drew a sharp distinction between herself and the other candidates vying for the Republican Party endorsement for Governor of Minnesota in a morning press conference in the State Capitol Rotunda in St. Paul.

“Mine will be a campaign of substance,” Anderson promised. “Make no mistake – I am out to change the debate. Minnesotans … are tired of partisan bickering. They are tired of the ‘no new taxes’ versus ‘tax the rich’ debate. They are tired of bullet point promises from Republicans; they are tired of pie-in-the-sky promises from Democrats. They are worried about their future security, but they are leery of constant government intervention in their lives. They are frustrated with both Republicans and Democrats.”

Anderson’s St. Paul press conference was the first stop on a four-day, 14-stop statewide press tour with scheduled stops in St. Paul, Rochester, Austin, and Mankato on Monday, Nov. 2; Duluth, St. Cloud, Alexandria (2 events) on Nov. 3; Moorhead, East Grand Forks, Fergus Falls, and St. Cloud (candidate forum) on Nov. 4; and Willmar, Marshall, Worthington, and Fairmont on Nov. 5.

“Following the GOP campaign in the press, you might have the idea that the Republican field for governor is made up of cookie cutter conservatives,” said Anderson, who added she is proud to be part of part of a contingent of candidates with “solid conservative cores.”

“But the media is wrong, painting us all with the ’same message, different face’ brush,” said Anderson. “The conservatism of the GOP field ranges from what I call ‘bullet-point conservatism’ to the ‘conservatism of rebellion.’”

To distinguish her “pro-liberty conservatism” from the political positions of her opponents, Anderson introduced the first seven of an eventual “365 ways to a better Minnesota.” In keeping with her campaign promise of substance, Anderson pledged that as the campaign continues she will expand on the seven broad strategies provided to the press (also available at www.anderson4governor.com/media/).

“In creating a blueprint for a better Minnesota, we are first consulting with subject matter experts, not pollsters and not party king-makers,” said Anderson. “Ultimately policies have to stand on their own merits, and we will make proposals with a firm foundation in economic theory.”
