Press Release: A statement from Sen. Tom Bakk on Pawlenty’s proposed constitutional amendment
Gov. Pawlenty has proposed a constitutional amendment to limit state spending. I believe there needs to be a very serious discussion about how it would impact the state’s future and the proposal should be scrutinized before being placed on the ballot.
As chair of the Senate Tax Committee, I invited Gov. Pawlenty and his staff to testify about the “Spending Accountability Amendment” at a Dec. 7 Senate Tax Committee hearing. Gov. Pawlenty sent me a letter today accepting that offer and said that “Commissioner Tom Hanson and others will look forward to outlining the proposal in detail and receiving input from the committee.”
