Eva Mendes: ‘I’ve never loved acting and I wasn’t an astonishing actress’

In 2014. Eva Mendes preferred motherhood to her career and to this day has not regretted her choice.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Ryan Gosling’s wife made it clear that she didn’t miss Hollywood because she had never seen herself as an incredible talent on set.

I never loved acting. And I don’t want to sound like I don’t respect myself, but I wasn’t an amazing actress. I’ve had my moments when I’ve worked with really great people,” Mendez said.

In the interview, she specified that she thought her partner Ryan Gosling was one of those “great people.” And he claims that when the two of them played together in the crime drama “The Place Beyond the Pines,” he has pulled the best he can of.

In recent years, Mendes has used her public presence to advertise and support the film projects in which her husband participates, designating Gosling as one of the best actors of our time. But for her return to show business, the star doesn’t open a word.

While she has played in well-known productions such as “Training Day” with Denzel Washington and the Fast and Furious franchise, Mendes is convinced that her acting career is more of luck than talent.

On the one hand, the actress did not trust herself enough, but on the other hand, she was convinced that she had been neglected for a long time because of her Cuban blood.

“At first, I was often told, ‘You’re too Latin American about this, you’re too Latin American for that.’ It was crazy. But at one point it changed to, “Hey, being a Latino is cool.” It gave me the energy and fuel I needed,” the actress shared.

She also told The Sunday Times that she would be pleasant to star in another film with Gosling, but for the time being her focus is on raising their children. The actress takes care of their two daughters, 10-year-old Esmeralda and 8-year-old Amanda, who live with her in West London while their father is making films.

The girls are being trained at home, with Mendes having limited their contact with the outside world to family and friends. Esmeralda and Amanda do not have phones and social networks, and the use of the Internet is prohibited.

“Colliving my child the internet is equivalent to telling her, ‘Oh why don’t I let you walk the street in the middle of the night. Everything will be fine.” I know it may sound extreme to some people, but that’s how I feel,” the actress noted.

Although she spends most of her time at home, she claims she hasn’t lost her old ambition. It’s just that its direction has changed.

Alongside her daughters, for example, Mendes recently published a children’s book on anxiety, in which a little girl masters her strong emotions by taking her nails.

The star feels she has discovered her true calling in her role as a mother and sees in the opportunity to end her acting career out of a terrible blessing.

“I’m very lucky because I can be by my children’s side as they grow up. And I haven’t stopped working. I only stopped being in movies because acting can take you to different places at any time,” the star reveals.

Her move away from the Hollywood scene has also helped her to look at getting older in a healthier way. The actress, who turned 50 in March, said the round anniversary did not bother her at all because she internally, she continues to feel like a little girl.

“Yes, I notice that I am getting wider and I happen to forget some things. That’s it being 50. I will soon face hormonal changes. But I still feel sexy from time to time. Sometimes my husband looks at me like that I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m still hot as hell,'” Eva Mendes says.
