Biden: I’m not going to apologize to the Chinese president for the balloon
US President Joe Biden announced this Thursday at a White House press conference that he plans to talk to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping about the so-called spy balloon that was spotted flying over the US in late January and was shot down by the US military.
However, Biden was adamant that he would not apologize to Jingping for the affected object.
I look forward to speaking with President Xi to clarify everything on this subject. But I will not apologize because we took down the bubble, the US head of state emphasized.
Biden made it clear that “any flying object that could threaten the security of the American people will be neutralized.”
Otherwise, Beijing continues to insist that the balloon in question entered US airspace by mistake, and that it performed purely “meteorological” functions, not espionage.
