Donald Trump: The US should negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine

He spoke out against military aid

Former US President Donald Trump believes that Washington should negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Trump also stressed the importance of a more rational approach to arms supplies to Kyiv but indicated that Europe should increase supplies. He expressed this opinion in an interview with the American radio host Hugh Hewitt, the text of which is published on his website.

“I think the United States should negotiate peace between the two countries, and I don’t think Washington should provide too much military aid. There should be peace talks,” Trump said.

Commenting on European countries’ support for Kyiv, the 45th US president said they “need to do a lot more” because right now, Trump said, Europe is doing only a fraction of what the United States is doing.

According to Reuters, the US is preparing a new $2.2 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which is expected to include long-range missiles for the first time. The US can supply GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb) missiles with a range of 150 km (currently Ukraine is supplied with missiles with a range of 70 km). Washington last announced additional supplies to Kyiv on January 20. In total, the US has allocated more than $27.4 billion to support security in Ukraine.
