Nicaragua severed diplomatic relations with the Netherlands

The statement said the Nicaraguan government took this decision because the “interventionist and neo-colonial” European state had “insulted and continues to insult Nicaraguan families.”

Earlier this week, Nicaraguan officials declared the European Union’s ambassador “persona non grata” and also said the country would not accept the new US ambassador, fueling tensions between President Daniel Ortega and the international community, according to Reuters.
