Republicans are on track to take Congress
The Republican Party of the USA is on its way to getting a majority in Congress (the bicameral parliament in Washington), the BBC reported.
“The results at this point indicate that the political formation that nominated former President Donald Trump has 211 seats in the House of Representatives (the lower house of parliament). The Democratic Party of the current head of state, Joe Biden, has 197 seats,” the British media added.
A majority in the House of Representatives requires at least 218 deputies out of the 435 legislators.
“In the upper House (Senate), the Republicans also got a lead. They have 49, while the Democrats – 48,” the BBC also pointed out.
A minimum of 51 of the 100 senators is required for a majority.
On November 8, US citizens voted for all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 senators.
