The US Commerce Department said it had issued an order denying export privileges to Russian carrier Ural Airlines, citing what it said were continuing export violations, Reuters reported. The order terminates Ural’s right to engage in transactions subject to US export regulations. The Biden administration has stepped up its crackdown on Russian airlines in recent months following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, denying them access to spare parts, refueling, and other services.
The United States, Great Britain, and the European Union have taken a number of sanctions against Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. They affect both state-owned companies and individual private individuals.
