Trump sues CNN for defamation

Former US President Donald Trump filed a complaint against CNN for defamation and demanded compensation in the amount of 475 million dollars from the media, the world agencies reported.

Trump accuses the television station of trying to use its enormous influence to defame him in front of viewers to defeat him politically, according to the complaint.

The text added that in recent months, CNN’s smear campaign against Trump had intensified because the station feared he would run for president next year. Trump accuses the media of wanting to tip the political scales to the left by trying to smear him using defamatory epithets such as “racist”, “rogue of the Russians” and even “Hitler”. Trump blasted television for using the phrase “The Big Lie” about his claims that Joe Biden stole the 2020 presidential election. “The Big Lie is a direct reference to a tactic used by Adolf Hitler and appearing in his book ‘My Struggle,'” the complaint states. “The Big Lie was used by Hitler to incite hatred of Jews and should not be used with a light hand,” the text adds.

The complaint states that the expression was used by CNN in connection with Trump 7,700 times since January 2021 and was an attempt to spread to the audience an association between the complainant and, according to the complaint, one of the most despicable personalities in modern history. Trump also warned in a statement that he would file defamation lawsuits against many other media outlets in the coming weeks and months. He says he could also take action against the parliamentary committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on Congress by his supporters.
