USA: We are ready to negotiate with Russia, but Moscow is going the other way

United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Thursday that his country is ready to seek a diplomatic solution with Russia to the conflict in Ukraine, but for now, Moscow is "going in the other direction."

“When Russia shows that it is really ready to seek a solution through dialogue, we will be ready. We will be there,” Blinken emphasized during a press conference in the Peruvian capital, Lima, where he is on an official visit.

However, the top US diplomat added that “unfortunately, at this point, Russia is going in the opposite direction”, giving examples of the partial military mobilization, the annexation of Ukrainian territories, and Putin’s constant threats of nuclear war.

In fact, Russia and Putin in particular showed absolutely no interest in a diplomatic solution to the conflict, Blinken said, quoted by Infobae.

According to him, the USA, like President Zelensky, is of the opinion that the war can only be ended by diplomacy.
