White House: No indication Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons
We have no reason to update our strategic nuclear posture, just as we have no indication that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in an immediate way. This was stated today by the spokeswoman of the White House, Karin Jean-Pierre, the world agencies reported.
This statement comes a day after particularly strong words from US President Joe Biden, who said that for the first time since the Cold War, the world is facing the risk of nuclear Armageddon.
When asked if Biden’s warnings were related to new intelligence available to the United States, the White House spokeswoman said “No.”
She added that Biden’s words are a reinforced version of the White House’s previous statements, which show how seriously threats are taken by Russia, BTA notes.
