Twitter fired dozens of employees in one day

The American company Twitter fired at least 50 employees on Saturday, the Information portal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. This is the eighth round of job cuts since Elon Musk acquired the social network at the end of October (2022 – ed.) The staff has decreased by at least 70% to approximately 2,000 people, the portal said in a statement. The latest layoffs affected several engineering teams, including those involved in supporting ad tech, Twitter’s core app, and technical infrastructure.

Earlier in February, it was reported that Twitter had closed two of its three offices in India. In November, it was reported that the company had laid off more than 90% of its approximately 200 employees in India over one of the weekends at the time. Since the acquisition of the online platform by Elon Musk in October 2022 for 44 billion dollars, Twitter has been plagued by a series of changes both in the management of the company and in the policies of the social network itself. The American company Twitter Inc. was founded in 2006. The company’s main product is a social network for exchanging short messages. The headquarters is located in San Francisco, California.
