Biden praised Musk’s plan to open up Tesla’s charging network to other electric vehicles
US President Joe Biden has praised Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk’s plan to open up part of his electric vehicle charging network, saying the move was a “big deal” and would “get things done very different,” Reuters reported.
The tweet is a sign of improving relations between Biden and Musk, who previously complained of being overlooked.
“As we build out our electric vehicle charging network, we must ensure that as many charging stations as possible work for as many drivers as possible,” Biden said on Twitter. “To that end, Elon Musk will open up a large part of Tesla’s network to all drivers. It’s a big deal and it’s going to make things a lot different.”
In response to the tweet, Musk said: “Thank you, Tesla is happy to support other electric vehicles through our Supercharger network.”
By the end of 2024, “Tesla” will have 7,500 charging stations.
The administration plans to spend $7.5 billion to expand charging infrastructure to boost the uptake of electric vehicles.
