The Russian delegation was not allowed in the United States to participate in the IAEA conference

The Rosatom delegation did not receive American visas to participate in the IAEA conference

The delegations of “Rosatom” and “Rostechnadzor” will not participate in the international ministerial conference of the IAEA in the United States, since the American side has not issued visas to its members, the state corporation announced in its Telegram.

They said visa requests for the delegation members had been submitted in advance, but no visas had been issued to anyone as of October 21. “In this way, the American side effectively blocks the participation of Russia in this international conference of the IAEA,” added the corporation, considering the refusal to be disrespectful of the States to the IAEA.

Rosatom also expressed the opinion that without the adequate participation of Russia, the conference in Washington loses its meaning in many respects.

At the same time, Alexei Likhachev, CEO of the state corporation, will still speak at the conference, on the topic of “Nuclear Energy in the 21st Century” in the format of a video message.

The conference will be held from October 26 to 28.

In August, Rosatom filed six lawsuits seeking $3 billion over Finland’s breach of contract to build the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant.
