The US has explained its plan to curb Russian oil prices

According to the Office of Foreign Assets Control document, one general license provides authorization for supplies to Bulgaria, Croatia and landlocked EU countries

The Ministry of Finance of the United States has issued clarifications on the plan to limit the prices of Russian oil, which is expected to open the possibility of deliveries to some European countries, including Bulgaria, and to Japan under certain conditions, BTA reported.

According to the Office of Foreign Assets Control document, one general license provides authorization for supplies to Bulgaria, Croatia, and landlocked EU countries, and the other for the transport of Russian crude oil from the Sakhalin-2 project to Japan.

The licenses are temporary to fulfill existing contracts and do not lift the ban on imports of Russian oil into the United States.

The decision of the Council of Europe on the exemption from sanctions provided for Bulgaria until the end of 2024 in order to fulfill supply contracts before June 4 of this year is also cited.

The EU, the G7, and the United States are expected to reach an agreement to impose a maximum price for oil originating in Russia. According to the Wall Street Journal, this should happen today.
