The US Congress has started a procedure to recognize "Wagner" as a terrorist organization

US senators have introduced a bill requiring the State Department to designate the private military company (PMC) Wagner as a foreign terrorist organization. This was reported on the website of US Senator Roger Wicker.

US Senators Roger Wicker, Republican of Mississippi, and Ben Cardin, Democrat of Maryland, introduced the Russian Mercenary Liability Act today.

It is specified that a similar procedure will be held in the US House of Representatives. From the Republican Party, the initiative will be Richard Hudson and Joe Wilson, and from the Democrats – Mark Veasey and Steven Cohen.

The submitted bill also provides for the recognition as terrorist organizations of “any structure related to PMC “Wagner” or its successors”. Under US law, the status of a terrorist organization gives the US the right to prosecute its members as well as track its assets around the world.

It was previously reported that the US was investigating the possibility of declaring Wagner a terrorist organization.
