The US will send eight NASAMS to Ukraine

The US government will transfer eight NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine, with two of them arriving in Ukraine in the near future.
This was said at a briefing by a high-ranking US defense official, Ukrinform reports.
“The United States has already provided [Ukraine] with 1,400 Stingers, which are short-range air defenses, and our allies and partners have also provided a significant number of short-range air defense systems. The US has also committed eight NASAMS and related munitions, two of which will be in Ukraine in the very near future, with six more to be delivered later. We have also committed to a range of anti-aircraft unmanned systems, including the VAMPIRE system and other radar systems, as we know that the UAS threat is also a serious threat at the moment,” he said.
The official added that the US also helped support Slovakia’s donation of an S-300 system earlier in the war.
“This was extremely important for the protection of Ukrainian infrastructure at this time,” he added.
As reported by Ukrinform, last Friday Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said that the Ukrainian military is undergoing training on NASAMS air defense systems, and after the training is completed, the systems will be sent to Ukraine.
