Former US President Donald Trump reaffirmed his support for Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro today, two days before the second round of the Brazilian presidential election, France Press reported.
Trump said that Bolsonaro’s opponent in the second round, leftist candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, will quickly destroy (Brazil).”
Current far-right President Bolsonaro is a “great and respected leader” who is “also a great person with a very big heart”, so “on Sunday VOTE” for him, “he will never leave you !!!”, wrote the Republican billionaire in his social network “Truth Social”, addressing the Brazilians.
Donald Trump criticized Lula, whom he called “Lulu” and described as a “radical left-wing lunatic who will quickly destroy your country and the tremendous progress made under President Bolsonaro.”
At the beginning of September, the former American president already called on Brazilians to vote for Bolsonaro, who earned the nickname “Trump of the tropics”, France Press recalls.
The sympathy between the two leaders is mutual. Bolsonaro is a big admirer of Trump – both are known for their inappropriate use of social networks, their provocative style, and numerous gaffes, notes AFP.
Some fear that he will challenge the election result in case of defeat, as Trump did after his failure in the 2020 US presidential election.
