The White House is “concerned that Moscow may be advising Iran on the best ways to manage protests, drawing on … extensive experience in suppressing” opponents. This was stated by press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby was less clear on whether the Kremlin had already ordered such a step, AFP reported. “It is possible that they are considering some kind of support to quell the Iranian protests,” he said. “We’re seeing signs that maybe they’re considering training,” he said. “Unfortunately, Russia has experience.”
Kirby also reiterated that Iranian personnel is in occupied Ukraine to help Russian forces use drones in the campaign against civilian infrastructure. “They are now on the ground in Crimea to support these efforts,” he said.
