USA will fight to bring basketball star Greener home

The United States will fight Russia to bring jailed American basketball star Brittney Greener home, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said after a Russian court on Tuesday upheld her nine-year sentence, Reuters reported.

“We are aware of the news from Russia that Brittney Greener will continue to be wrongfully detained in intolerable circumstances after having to go through another mock trial today,” Sullivan said in a statement.

The Biden administration “continues to engage with Russia through every channel available and make every effort to bring Britney home, and to support and protect other Americans detained in Russia, including wrongfully detained Paul Whalen,” Sullivan added.
