An air alert has been declared in four Ukrainian regions

An air alert was declared in four Ukrainian regions this morning, BTA reports. The sirens in Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Poltava, and Cherkasy regions were activated at the beginning of the day. An air alert was also announced in the city of Zaporizhia.

Heavy snowfall is expected today in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, with temperatures dropping below zero. News of the worsening weather has left millions of people in the city and surrounding areas without electricity and heating.

Yesterday, the operator of the electricity transmission network “Ukrenergo” announced that the electricity producers are able to cover only three-quarters of the consumption needs, which imposes restrictions and interruptions of the electricity supply throughout the country.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in 14 of the 27 regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, there are restrictions on the use of electricity.
