Travel for the autumn holidays in China has dropped due to the COVID restrictions. Their number has decreased by more than a third compared to the same period last year, Reuters reported.
Beijing’s “zero COVID” policy denied people travel in the Sept. 10-12 holiday period totaling 66 million. Trips by car or bus fell by 37% year-on-year to a total of 48 million, and those by ship fell by 15% to just over 1 million trips.
China is trying to contain the rapidly spreading Omicron variant, imposing lockdowns of varying degrees.
