Inflation in the Eurozone jumped to a record 10% in September

The annual rate of consumer price growth in the euro area is expected to accelerate to 10 percent in September from 9.1 percent in August.

This is according to the preliminary assessment of the European statistical agency Eurostat, published today on its website.

Looking at the main components of eurozone inflation in September, energy is expected to have the highest annual growth rate (40.8 percent, up from 38.6 percent in August).

It is followed by food, alcohol,, and tobacco (11.8 percent in September, compared to 10.6 percent in August), non-energy manufactured goods (5.6 percent in September, compared to 5.1 percent in August),, and services ( 4.3 percent in September, compared to 3.8 percent in August).
