Strike cancels hundreds of flights in Germany
A strike has canceled hundreds of flights at four airports in Germany, Anadolu Agency reports.
The protest by the security personnel will continue for one day.
Berlin International Airport has announced that there will be no commercial flights today. Some inbound flights will also be affected.
Due to the planned strike, the airport in the German capital had to cancel around 200 flights, affecting 27,000 passengers. Passengers were asked to contact their airline to find out the current status of their flight.
Hamburg Airport also said no regular flights would be possible on Monday and the strike was likely to lead to cancellations and delays in arriving flights.
According to airport authorities, more than 120 departing and at least 50 arriving flights have been cancelled.
Major disruptions and canceled flights are also expected at Bremen and Hanover airports.
The ver.di union is demanding an inflation-adjusted wage increase, higher overtime and night shift pay, and better working conditions.
