Ukraine will not receive fighter jets from the West anytime soon
Dmitry Kuleba nevertheless demanded pilot training
Western warplanes will not arrive in Ukraine in the coming months, world media reports.
Despite the fact that as early as January of this year in Ukraine actively stated that they were preparing to receive several dozen combat aircraft from Western countries, including quite modern F-16 and JAS-39 Gripen fighters, it became known that even if Ukraine’s Western allies take decision on the delivery of fighter jets, this will happen no earlier than a few months.
“I do not expect the delivery of fighters to happen soon, because it is a very difficult task from the point of view of logistics and technology.
“Therefore, we advise to start training Ukrainian pilots on Western aircraft now, so that when a decision is made to provide aircraft, time and many months of training will not be wasted,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said.
At the same time, there are many doubts that Ukraine will be able to receive Western-made fighters at all, although Poland has declared its readiness to transfer 28 Soviet MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
