The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said it would send a team to Izyum to investigate claims by Ukrainians that a mass grave had been discovered since the city was recaptured from Russia. “Our colleagues in Ukraine are following these allegations and aim to organize a monitoring visit to Izyum to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of these people,” spokeswoman Elizabeth Trossell said.
About 450 bodies have been found in a grave near the eastern Ukrainian city of Izyum, which was recently recaptured by Kyiv forces. “This is just one of the mass graves discovered near Izyum. Unbridled terror, violence, torture, and mass murders have been reigning in the occupied territories for months,” said Mihailo Podolak.
He posted a photo on social media showing rows of wooden crosses and recently dug mounds in a wooded area.
