Xi Jinping goes to Moscow for a meeting with Putin

Chinese President Xi Jinping will travel to Moscow next week for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Foreign Ministry in Beijing announced that Xi will be in the Russian Federation from March 20 to 22 at Putin’s invitation. According to information from the Kremlin, the two will discuss “comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation”.

Xi’s visit comes at a time when Beijing – one of Moscow’s closest allies – has offered to end the war in Ukraine. It was received extremely coldly by the West, which continues to warn China against sending weapons to Russia.
